15th annual Father-Son Baseball Camp held at Dick Steed Field
Feb 15, 2023 03:47PM ● By Patricia SmithBaseball-loving fathers, sons, coaches, college athletes, and mentors hit the Dick Steed Field at Lawton Chiles High School to share a one-day camp that Bryan Henry (Head Baseball Coach of Tallahassee Community College) and David Ross (Chicago Cubs Baseball Manager) annually hold for young and aspiring athletes.
The Saturday baseball camp marked 15 years, with both coaches looking forward to many more in the future.
Coaches and athletes from Tallahassee Community College, Florida A&M University, and Florida State University volunteered and gathered on the field with the fathers and sons to help teach pitching, catching, and sliding skills.
When the training activities were over David Ross and Bryan Henry directed everyone to the center of the field to give some final words.
“It’s been a great year,” Henry said as he spoke to the campers. “Let me ask you this, did you have a good time?”
He emphasized the importance of how at the end of the day everyone has fun and enjoys spending time together.
Both Ross and Henry thanked everyone for coming and sharing a fun-filled day of baseball.
They drew names for a raffle drawing in which one winner received a bat and another won a pair of tickets to a Chicago Cubs game.
Ross, Henry, and the college athletes who helped make the baseball camp a success then autographed t-shirts, helmets, bats, and baseballs for the children.
