License-free saltwater fishing day coming up in Florida

Nov 03, 2022 03:25PM ● By Cristi Mc Kee

A third license-free saltwater fishing Saturday in Florida is coming up immediately following Thanksgiving.

On Saturday, November 27, all recreational anglers, including non-residents and residents can fish in all saltwater areas without a license.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says that, ”License-free fishing days provide an excellent opportunity for those who don't yet have a fishing license to experience fishing, take youth fishing, or for avid anglers to introduce a friend to fishing without having to purchase a license.”

The saltwater waiver applies to any recreational harvest requiring a saltwater fishing license (such as crabbing, lobstering, scalloping, etc.) as well as fishing from shore or a boat.

A snook or spiny lobster permit are also not required on these days,” according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

All seasons, bag and size limits rules still apply.

These rules can be reviewed online HERE.

Each year, the first consecutive Saturday and Sunday in June and the first Saturday in September are also license-free saltwater fishing days as well.

Fishing licenses for both saltwater and freshwater fishing are priced starting at $17 per year, and you can buy licenses for each online at myfwc.com
