Is a new development coming to the Summerbrooke area?
Nov 03, 2022 02:19PM ● By Cristi Mc KeeA development application aiming to subdivide the existing parcel into a 275-unit residential subdivision of detached single-family homes in the Summerbrooke community has been filed with the City of Tallahassee, according to a City of Tallahassee Notice of Development Application review.
The Landon Hills - Preliminary Platt would be developed approximately 1,000’ east of Preservation Drive on the South side of Bannerman Road, covering 150.16 acres or less, if approved.
The property, at present, is zoned LP, or Lake Protection.
Leads for the project include Kimly-Horn’s, an engineering and planning firm out of Tallahassee, agent Brennon Clayton, and the Growth Management Project Coordinator, the City’s Senior Planner, Lance Jacobson.
This Development Application is to be reviewed by the Development Review Committee, and residents of the area, who were given notice of the development application in mid-October, have already begun to weigh in on the possible development via neighborhood Facebook groups and communities.
By and large, residents have voiced their objections to the development, citing preexisting development improvement as their primary concern, not the development of new communities entirely.
The first Development Review Committee meeting was held on October 24 at City Hall, and further information on this new development will be provided as The Bugle obtains it.
