The Killearn Country Club, located at 100 Tyron Circle in Tallahassee, will close for 18 months beginning on September 6, the club's owners have announced.

In February, the Killearn Country Club was sold to Tallahassee entrepreneur David Cummings with the purpose of redevelopment and restoration.

The new owner says the vision for the updated club “is to reimagine the Killearn Country Club in a way that will restore its position as Tallahassee’s landmark golf and social experience, while preserving the character of the neighborhood and instilling pride in club members and residents.”

Funding for the updates comes from Cummings, who’s made a multi-million dollar investment of private funds to reimagine the club.

An entirely new clubhouse will be constructed to include an “upscale lounge with an approachable atmosphere” according to club owners.

A new dining area with a view of the golf course, an impressive full-service kitchen and space for private parties will also be made.

Country club owners say golfers can expect a “plush, well-maintained grounds and thoughtful improvements to the course layout" after the renovations.

This will allow the club to “once again host annual social and dining events as well as regular golf and tennis tournaments.”

A new pool will also be constructed with ample deck seating and poolside dining options will be available.

The reimagined club will also feature state-of-the-art tennis and pickleball courts.

Additionally, “in homage to the inn that previously operated on the property,” the renovated club will host a couple of cottages available to golf groups, guests of club members and tournament players at which they can stay.

At this time, owners are also seeking to rezone more than 260 acres of the golf course property to Open Space.

Owners say you can expect “plush, well-maintained grounds and thoughtful improvements to the course layout.”

Amenities plans include a longer driving range, cart GPS and Toptracer technology and short game practice areas.

A “renowned golf architect” will orchestrate the project, which is meant to appeal to golf enthusiasts from the Big Bend and beyond.”

The reimagined club will also feature state-of-the-art tennis and pickleball courts.

These updates, according to the Club, will “bring the area into alignment with the Tallahassee-Leon County Comprehensive Plan and make it possible to create a premier destination-style golf course and country club” that’s said to grant current club members’ wishes and attract more people to the club.

The club's new ownership has created a website dedicated to this project, which you can keep visit at reimaginekillearncc.com to keep up-to-date on the project.
